Jerk or Hero For Doing Something That We All Have Thought Of Doing?

“I’d like to pay this ticket.”

Parking fines… ok, they are the bane of automobile drivers in any major city across the land. From sea to shining sea and beyond. The parking ticket nuisance is bigger than just one country however. We found a video that shows the problem as being a world-wide inconvenience.

The solutions for this problem have been rendered almost non-existent. Don’t pay the fine and you’ll find yourself arrested on a bench warrant. Wait till the deadline passes to pay the fine and you get a late fee added. Many would-be heroes have tried to return the favor to the local municipality without success – but we’ve always hoped that one person would find the ultimate pay-back.

At long last from a land down-under, where women glow and men plunder, comes an everyday hero set upon making things right. Our brave knight goes to the bank and gathers 60 Australian dollars worth of five and ten cent coins. We assume this is the amount of his fine.

“Sir, I can’t accept that.”

After taking possession of the coins, which are all pre-counted, sorted and sealed in nice bank packaging, our hero goes outside to open each package and dump the individual coins into one larger coin bag. Let’s face it, this took some extra work to make it as devilishly difficult for person receiving the money to count.

Our mercenary’s next stop is at the city council office where he announces that he wants to pay his fine, and this is where the fun truly begins.

After the clerk announces that the fine is sixty dollars, our hero asks if cash is ok.

“Yeah it is,” she responds.

“I don’t want to talk to you.”

Almost instantly our would-be hero turns into a jerk as he tosses the money on the desk of the poor cashier – who doesn’t know how to respond. Eventually she explains that she can’t accept that and looks for help from a supervisor.

The clerk’s supervisor arrives as a night in shinning armor at which time a verbal sparring match takes place between the supervisor and the ticket payer. The confrontation ends with the ticket payer announcing loudly to everyone listening that he’s payed the fine and walks out.

Jerk or Hero… we’ll let you decide.
