Game On: Jimco Vehicles Take Starring Role In Dirt 5

The popular Dirt series of off-road racing games is due to launch a new chapter, which is sure to show off the latest in off-road racing with digital versions of some of the world’s best vehicles. Jimco, a name long synonymous with dirt racing, just announced that two of its vehicles, the Maximus Unlimited Truck and Hammerhead Class 1 Car, will be a part of the new game.

The Jimco Hammerhead Class 1 Car, built for Mario Fuentes and appearing in the upcoming video game, Dirt 5.

Dirt games have featured digital versions of real-world racing machines from the start, so the move to feature a truck and the new Hammerhead Class 1 Car from Jimco isn’t surprising – especially given the company’s stature within the racing community. Jimco’s inclusion in the new game is seen as a victory for American desert racing, since Dirt 5 will introduce an international audience to the sport.

It’s also a win for Jimco and the Hammerhead platform. The Class 1 platform blends the best elements from Jimco’s existing “Champion” Class 1 cars and its “Maximus” trophy truck. This is the sixth Hammerhead platform the company has made, and the fifth to reach competition. The company says that the Hammerhead offers increased front wheel travel, a better turning radius, and 20-inch trailing arms for better forward bite and improved suspension over a traditional buggy.

The Hammerhead is a mid-engine design, which puts the engine between the axles for better weight distribution and vastly improved handling, which is also aided by a 125-inch wheelbase and a 91-inch track width.

The game is due to be released in October 2020 on Xbox Seriex X, Playstation 5, Windows PC and the current Xbox and Playstation consoles. A Google Stadia version is due out in early 2021. The popular games from Codemasters Software Company have long set the bar for off-road racing, and feature all manner of vehicles, from rally cars to buggies to trucks. The last installment in the series, Dirt 4, came out in 2017 and offered gamers the ability to create their own tracks, race behind the wheel of legendary cars like the Ford Fiesta R5, and offered a career mode for drivers to gain sponsors and build an off-road racing team.
