First Look: Liberty Walk Debuts Mustang Widebody Kit

In the Japanese domestic market, when you mention the name Liberty Walk, you immediately think high-end widebody kit. Since the first Liberty Walk widebody kit made its debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas back in 2009, Liberty Walk, or LB Works, has produced some of the most sought-after wide-body kits vehicles around the world.

While many enthusiasts have drooled over the kits that they have debuted for vehicles like the Nissan GTR, Lamborghini, and even the new Dodge Challenger, when it comes to the Ford community, Liberty Walk had never truly broken into the late-model Mustang market — until now.

That delay is not because there isn’t a market for a widebody S550. It’s because designing a widebody kit that seamlessly matches the aggressive lines on the new Mustang proved challenging.

Walking The Walk

Liberty Walk isn’t interested in simply tuning or dressing-up cars. The company is not interested in common-place customization either. LB Works designs cars with a single Japanese word as its primary focal point — “Kaizo.” In English, it means remodeling, and that’s the core of what LB Works is all about.

The Liberty Works Mission

• Every LB Works car is hand-built.

• There is no mass production factory turning out these cars.

• Each car takes a lot of time to complete!

• Every car needs to be individual to its owner!

• The company strives to build a unique LB Works car for each and every one of its customers.

• The company takes great pride in what it does!

In the old days, “Kaido Racers” as they were referred to in Japan, styled their cars by removing bumpers, retro-fitting headlights from another car and cutting and installing overfenders.

These are the roots of old-school Japanese custom-car culture. But this has come at a cost. While some have loved this culture, others have disagreed with it.

Today, there are currently more than 200 LB Works cars driving around Japan and more than 350 LB Works rides in other countries all around the world.

Throughout the years, Liberty Walk has stayed true to its roots and adapted it to the finest automobiles in the world.

And for late-model Mustang fans, LB Works is hard at work finishing a kit that is finally available to us to enjoy. The new Mustang kit — which includes a front diffuser, a front canard, side diffusers, a rear diffuser, a duck-tail spoilers, and wide fenders — is now available on the Liberty Walk website here, and even though the full kit goes for an estimated $6,800, judging from the pictures here, you are indeed investing in a kit that was built to last.

What are your thoughts on the new Liberty Walk 2015-2017 Mustang widebody kit?
