We’re hopefully all familiar by now with how mental the Lamborghini Aventador SV is, and with a 6-minute, 59-second Nürburgring lap time, it is a force to be reckoned with.
Recently, EVO Magazine‘s Henry Catchpole recently had the chance to flog the new SuperVeloce (Super Fast) Aventador around the Isle Of Man, and just the sound of the 6.5-liter 740 hp V12 engine wailing at high rpms alone is intoxicating. It’s expensive, it’s fast, and it’s one of the most elemental supercars on the market, and Lamborghini wants to keep it that way for the time being. EVO reports that the gearbox in the Aventador SV is a little lackluster compared to some of the current dual-clutch gearboxes in various supercars. We’re actually kind of curious as to why Lamborghini didn’t fit the reworked, fast-shifting dual-clutch gearbox from the Huracan in the Aventador SV. Maybe next time around?
Another interesting tidbit about the SV line is that the Murciélago SV predecessor is seeing quite the price hike on the used market. There were less than 200 Murciélago SVs produced, compared to a planned run of 600 Aventador SVs. Murciélago SVs were sold for around $385,000 brand new, and since the Aventador SV came to market, some Murciélago SVs are reaching $570,000.
With the de-restricted mountain roads of the Isle Of Man, an Aventador SV, and a beautiful sunset in front of him, Catchpole is one lucky guy. It’s not everyday that an auto journalist gets to do something that awesome, especially driving the beast flat-out. Out of envy, we might have watched the video more than five times.
