Here is a dream build documented for all others to drool over. Dustin Hamm a.k.a. dslhtrdr on the forums, finally jumped at the chance to make his dreams come true.

“Hot rods and muscle cars have always been a passion of mine. When I was growing up, my Dad always told me stories of when he used to race our family’s old Camaro. It had quite a reputation at one time, but like many muscle cars, as the family grew, the car was parked and sat for years. I bought the Camaro from my parents when I was 17 and got it running my senior year of high school,” said Hamm.

While Hamm was working and driving his Camaro around his buddy purchased a 96’ Dodge with a 12 valve Cummins in it that was built. After the first ride, Hamm was hooked on diesel. Hamm said “I realized shortly after that I was bound and determined to put a diesel in my Camaro.”

After driving his Camaro around for while he began to realize that it needed a little more work than what he could do. “The body needed a full restoration. I was not skilled enough yet to tackle all the work, so I parked it until I was capable of doing the work myself,” continued Hamm.

With the car parked, Hamm went to school and learned the trade. Years later, working at Western Auto Body, in Sebastopol, CA everything came together. “I found an LBZ Duramax on Craigslist and quickly jumped on it. After enough research and experience from working at a body shop, I dove head first into the Camaro you see today. With the help of a few great friends, enough time and patience, I was able to build a muscle car that not only looks great, but is reliable and can outperform many heavily modified cars, all with a stock motor,” smiles Hamm.
