Imagine three days, 600 miles of mountain roads, and the sound of dozens of Corvette V8s echoing through the Smokies. That’s what Smoky Mountain Drives organizes every year. The inaugural event, held last September, was a resounding success, drawing over 80 Corvettes from across the US and even Canada.

From September 6th to 8th, 2024, these Corvette owners weren’t just admiring their cars – they were using them. Turning three days and over 600 miles of some of the best driving roads in the country into an epic road trip to remember forever. Tackling the Tail of the Dragon (home to 318 curves in just 11 miles), the Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, the Hellbender, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, just to name a few.

And it wasn’t just about the famous spots. The organizers, who know the area like the back of their hand, also led participants on hundreds of miles of incredible, lesser-known roads, the kind that locals usually keep secret.

Less traffic means drivers get to enjoy this event much even more. To keep things organized, the organizers split drivers into groups based on how fast and aggressively they wanted to drive. There is a time and place for spirited driving, and we think we’d like to be in the more “peppy” group.

Before hitting the road, there will be a registration check-in for the participants. For the Dragon Rally events, participants will receive their event decals, loaner walkie-talkies (essential for mountain driving in a big group), printed maps, and wristbands. Everything is already planned out, with detailed event guides emailed in advance. So, a huge shout out to the organizers of this truly epic event.

The 2024 event was, by all accounts, a blast. And if you missed it, don’t worry – it’s happening again. The Dragon Rally 2025 is scheduled for September 12th-14th.
