“Don’t ever let anyone tell you you can’t do anything. You can do whatever you want– all you need is Gorilla Tape and some fu*king balls.”
Wise words from the guys over at Hoonigan.
While in town attending Formula Drift Orlando, “Unprofessionals” Hert (@hertlife) and Rob (@chairslayer) had the awesome opportunity to get behind the wheel of a 500-horsepower R32 Skyline drift car, thanks to the owner of Enjuku Racing.
Hert ripped around for a while first, after getting used to the reversed right-hand drive setup– but it was the average clutch, gas, and brake pedals on the car that proved to be a bit of a problem for Rob, whom is paralyzed and has zero control of his legs.
For those of you who haven’t heard of the now-legendary drifter, Rob was actually in a dirt bike accident a couple years back. Having been immersed in the incredible world of cars and drifting before the fact, he took the whole six-months that he was in the hospital to think up a creation that could get him behind the wheel again.
His creation was a success, as he now drives his very own supercharged LS-powered 240sx, with hand controls for not only the throttle and braking but, impressively, also for the clutch and shifter.
This Skyline didn’t have these options, but that didn’t stop Rob from wanting to drive it. So, with only with a handbrake (no brakes and no clutch), he gets his good buddy Hert to literally tape his right foot to the car’s gas pedal.
And like it’s nothing– he drifts it perfectly.
“I love this sketchy sh*t. I live and breathe sketchy,” he said.
