Chevrolet again partnered up with Hall Racing with the 2022 Silverado ZR2. A truck that is race capable off the showroom floor; its first outing was the 2021 BITD King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic. It was also a successful one as it not only finished the two-day event with back-to-back class victories, but it also placed 12th fastest overall in its group.

Hall Racing Is Chevrolet Development

Chad Hall and Hall Racing are no strangers to Chevrolet. Their partnership started with his father, Rod, when GM purchased Hummer in 1999. This culminated into the Hummer H3 race truck in 2005. Even after Rod’s passing in 2019, Chad and his team remain the go to group for Hummer parts and GM off-road development.

“The Silverado ZR2 is a perfect example of how that strategy delivers,” said Dom Lester, chief engineer of GM Performance Variants, “We applied what we learned with Chad Hall’s experience in the prototype race truck to the production truck customers buy in the showroom.”

“It was exciting to help Chevrolet prove the Silverado ZR2’s off-road capability,” said Hall. “The tests and refinements made over the past couple of years absolutely prove the adage that racing improves the breed; making the production Silverado ZR2 a strong, capable off-road truck.”

Race Day Success

The first race for the Silverado ZR2 was the 2021 King Shocks Laughlin Desert Classic run by Best in the Desert (BITD). Racing as #1230, the truck won its class on both days and finished 12th overall in its group with a 1:10.56 on Saturday and 1:23.32 on Sunday.
