Lowering Springs

Lowering A 2018 Mustang GT With MagneRide

Earlier this month, we took a look at the 2018 Mustang’s available suspension options to find out if adding MagneRide to your next new Muscle Car was a smart investment. While the MagneRide Dampening System gives owners the freedom to fully adjust their vehicles’ suspension at the flick of a switch, when it comes to adding aftermarket lowering springs that work in conjunction with this system, there just aren’t a lot of viable aftermarket options to choose from yet.

Luckily, CJ Pony Parts confirmed that the same Ford Performance 20mm lowering springs that are available for the 2015-2018 Shelby GT350 and GT350R will indeed work with the new MagneRide-equipped Mustang GT.

In the video above, Bill Tumas of CJ Pony Parts walks us through how to install the new set of springs on his Race Red 2018 Mustang, and we caught up with Bill this week to ask him what he thinks about the new setup.

“The 2018 Mustang still rides amazingly well with the Ford Performance lowering springs,” Bill enthused. “The three adjustable drive modes work just like they did in stock form. The only difference in ride quality is everything is just a hair firmer than stock.”

Lowering Springs

When combined with a set of aftermarket wheels and tires, the Ford Performance lowering springs’ 20mm drop gives the new 2018 Mustang GT a nice, aggressive stance.

Ford Performance 20mm Lowering Springs Features

• Aggressive-looking stance

• Increased handling dynamics

• Designed to maintain excellent ride quality

• 20mm (.787 inches) lowering, front and rear

• Slightly stiffer ride

The Ford Performance 20mm Lowering Springs (PN M-5300-W) lower your vehicle approximately 20mm (.787 inches) at the front and rear. The springs are designed to work in concert with the Mustang’s adjustable suspension and will help provide better handling and dynamics both on the street and at the track.

The 20mm drop in ride height should prove a popular upgrade for 2018+ Mustang owners running the MagneRide system. When combined with your favorite set of aftermarket wheels and tires, the lowering springs are sure to give your second-gen S550 an aggressive stance without sacrificing the MagneRide’s Adaptive Suspension adjustability.
