Fighting cancer, Criswell Corvette and the Patty Pollatos Fund have teamed up for a fundraiser to give away a 2014 Corvette Stingray in the battle against this deadly disease. In the memory of a longtime salesman Jim Sell, at Criswell Chevrolet, owner Harry Criswell has donated a Torch Red 1LT 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible in Jim’s memory to the PPF.

At 61 years old, Sell, also a retired police officer, was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2012. Sadly he passed away from the disease just a few short months later in October 2012. Everyone’s buddy, Sell became famous in 2006, upon the release of the infamous comedy Borat.

If you saw the movie you are sure to remember the hilarious scene where Borat goes car shopping. Sell handled a challenging but comedic situation when Borat came to Criswell to film what he claimed was a documentary. Sell who began to show Borat a top of the line Hummer quickly learned Borat only had but $500 and some change to spend on the lot. Being the cunning salesman he was and determined to make the sell, Borat left with an old ice cream truck in tow that sunny day. Sell became a local celebrity and was always happy to pose with the locals for the occasional selfie.

When Jim passed away in 2012, the Chevrolet Criswell family raised $15,000 for Jim’s wife and the Patty Pollatos organization matched it dollar for dollar. The Patty Pollatos Fund was established in the memory of Patty Pollatos who passed away from cancer in 1992. The organization is a registered charity and is supported through volunteers. The PPF charity aids the people and families inflicted by cancer in Maryland’s Frederick County and surrounding areas.

With 1,000 tickets available for $100 each, the red 2014 Corvette Stingray will be raffled off at the Frederick Fair Grounds on September 20th, 2014. Tickets for the Corvette Stingray raffle can be ordered through the Patty Pollatos website.

A devastating disease, the hope is someday a cure will be found and no one else will suffer from the evils of cancer. Powered by the love for a friend, Criswell Chevrolet is fighting the battle and backing the PPF organization on their mission.
