Factory Five Racing is well-known for producing some of the most desirable replica cars for homebuilders, like their AC Cobra replica kits. The Factory Five Cobra builds have become as popular as the original vehicles. What happens if you are not a Ford fanatic but still want your own supercar? Factory Five Racing has the answer for you.
At this year’s SEMA show, Factory Five debuted their new front-engine Hyper Car chassis, which is designed to be the eventual successor to the GTM Supercar. According to company spokesman Jim Schenck, the Hyper Car chassis is the culmination of many years of experience on the road and track. The kit will offer options that allow the car to be customized to the owner’s preferences, including a wide range of engine combinations.
To prove the range of customization, Factory Five brought their Hyper Car chassis to the show with an incredible 9.5 liter, LS3-based V12 engine. This massive powerplant – supplied by a company that specializes in making V12 engines from the OE LS V8 platform – clearly shows the ability to mount practically any modern engine in the chassis.
The Chassis itself is the latest iteration based off of the Daytona coupe replica kit, which has been extended by nine inches and widened by 4.5 inches. To get the balance exactly where the design team wanted, the wheelbase was extended to 104 inches.
The competed car and kit will be completely unveiled in 2020, but this preview of the Hyper Car chassis left everyone dreaming about owning their own supercar.
