960HP Three-Valve ’Stang Can Run With The Pack

With all the attention garnered by Coyote-powered ’Stangs these days, a stockish 2005 Mustang GT that’s now pushing 960-horsepower is an attention-grabber. This is Mike Decourcey’s daily driver equipped with a Kenne Bell Liquid Cooled 3.2-liter supercharger atop its fortified Three-Valve 4.6, so you know it’s going to be good.

“This was the original, official Kenne Bell test car that was used to develop our S197 kits,” Kenne Bell explained in a Facebook post. “It has more than 400 dyno runs on it testing other Kenne Bell superchargers and was used to develop the Mammoth kit capable of over 1,100 horsepower!”

This powerful S197 is fed by Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors, a dual-fuel-pump setup, and a Kenne Bell dual Boost-A-Pump system.

“The engine is built to stock specs with forged internals, and huffs through the stock heads, cams, and exhaust with cats,” Kenne Bell added. “One of many things that’s really cool about this car is the capability to run E85 or 91-octane pump gas with the switch of the tune and a pulley change.”

According to the company, it takes less than 15 minutes to add 7 pounds of boost by using E85 instead of standard pump gas. That brings the output up by an additional 170 rear-wheel horsepower!

The video above demonstrates just how affective this setup is where Mike burns the tires with little effort. This kit would be a great way to significantly increase the output of your 4.6-liter Mustang without having to go crazy on an all-out build. This car is still tame enough to use on the street, while powerful enough to pull its own on the track.

“Mike drives it both ways to and from work and to drop off the kids at school! Pretty wild ride!” the company added.
