The Fireball Camaro has been all the hype lately, becoming not only the very first sixth-gen into the 8s, but also the quickest Gen V LT-powered car in existence.

But, Garry Means and the team at Late Model Racecraft are following not far behind with their “Ominous” Camaro.

They opted for LMR’s 1,000 horsepower package, in hopes to give the Exorcist and Demon some competition. They pulled out the car’s stock LT1 and threw in their power package components– consisting of a 416 cubic inch block, a custom cam, a cylinder head package, a fuel system, American Racing headers, and a huge ProCharger.

At 18 pounds of boost, the Ominous Camaro pushed a whopping 1,015 horsepower to the wheels. On its very first pass, it ran a 9.5-second quarter mile at 149 mph.

Surprisingly, the car’s interior is still completely intact, with the only weight reduction being the smaller rear wheels, wrapped in slicks. The original 8-speed automatic transmission and the stock rear differential remain as well. The only changes to the drivetrain are the billet Circle D torque converter and the one-piece aluminum driveshaft.

Keep in mind, the car’s 9.5-second run came before the test and tune session– so, after three more passes, it’s only about half a second behind the Fireball.
