It’s no surprise to see the Dodge Viper ACR taking track records, but go ahead and add Carolina Motorsports Park to that lengthy list. Ringing in a time of one minute thirty-seven seconds, the bone stock 2017 Dodge Viper ACR was driven by Brad Wood straight from the Gerry Wood dealership to the Caroline Motorsports Park with one goal in mind; the production car track record. With production of the Viper now finishing up this year, it’s nice to see these cars still rolling off lots and heading to the track and taking records along the way.
Located in Kershaw, South Carolina about an hour south of Charlotte, the CMP is home to many racing organizations including the SCCA, NASA, NASCAR, and BMWCCA in the area. Developed by a group of racers and enthusiasts alike, the 2.27 mile course features three course configurations for cars, motorcycles, and even karting events. You might even recognize this track from commercials and TV shows like the 2012 R U Faster Than A Redneck series.
Dealership owner Driver Gerry Wood mentioned that CMP is brutal on tires, and that they went through three sets in just two days during testing. Gerry Wood Dodge is actually the Southeast US dealership with the most Vipers in their inventory, with 141 on order for the 2017 season. They wanted to help the Viper accomplish something special before they go discontinued this year, and adding to the track record compilation that the ACR has been collecting certainly helps preserve the legacy the Viper has established.
