The Nurburgring is filled with plenty of fast and slow cars (with even more in between) but this lap from the seat of an Ariel Atom looks like a lot of fun. The day that the Ariel Atom was out at The Green Hell appeared to be a busy one, and there is plenty of quick vehicles the driver Sebastian Vittel passes with ease. Considering he’s got no doors or roof, there is definitely some level of bravery involved driving this hard with so many cars on track. Watch the video and be prepared for brutal acceleration and plenty of pass-by’s.

We don’t know which optioned-out Arial Atom Vittel is driving, as there has been several variations since its arrival in 2000, each one typically adding more power and reducing weight. Starting off small with a 2.0-liter engine, Ariel has since increased available engine sizing up to 3.0-liters and an assortment of natrually aspirated, turbo’d, and supercharged engines. With a lightweight and powerful combo, the Ariel Atom has been ranked among the top performing supercars in the world with reported 0-60 times as fast as 2.3 seconds when utilizing a 500 horsepower 3.0-liter V8.

Suspension on the Ariel Atom also contributes to its fast lap times, as it was setup and tuned by engineers at Lotus. Derived from single seat racing cars, the suspension is fully adjustable double wishbone suspension with pushrod operated dampers front and rear.
