We’ve all seen hillclimb videos, but this one doesn’t disappoint. Featuring only Porsche cars in the video, we get to witness both visually and audibly in a race up the mountain. Since the Swiss Hillclimb is broken up in stages, you’ll see a variety of conditions that these cars drive in-so don’t be surprised to see dry pavement in one shot and wet in another.
One of our favorites start at 4:56-a Porsche 911 3.0 driven by Gilles Lattion which is driven aggressively in both the wet and dry. Not afraid of getting sideways, Lattion puts on an impressive display as the car is flicked back and forth frequently getting the rear end of the car sideways while accelerating out of corners.
The Swiss Hillclimb is broken up into more than half a dozen events over several months during the summer with each varied in speed, climate, and elevation. Although this video only features P-cars, a huge variety of vehicles and classes run the Swiss Hillclimb, and cars have been racing here since at least 1975.
Because of the different class vehicles that run this event, we see old Porsche 914s up to more current models like the 996 and 997 GT3 RS. Speaking of the 996-there’s a few of them in this video and they both look and sound spectacular. The RS of the GT3 variant means “Rennsport” which literally means “Racing Sport” and it’s completely fitting for this event since improvements to the already great GT3 would really allow drivers an advantage. With the 2017 Hillclimb later this year, we will have the opportunity to see even newer models compete.
