Tanner Foust is one of the busiest wheelmen on the planet. On the competition side he regularly straps into cars in Global Rallycross, Formula Drift, the X Games, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, various types of sports car racing, as well as the SCORE Baja off road race. That’s busy.
He also drives for TV, movies, and publicity events. The Top Gear USA TV show and target=”_blank”>Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare come to mind. To showcase his vast repertoire of driving talents, Foust recently completed a video, based on an old TV show called Quantum Leap, where he jumps from vehicle to vehicle in full hoon mode.
Donald P. Bellisario was the producer/screenwriter for the 1980s classics Magnum P.I., Airwolf, and the aforementioned Quantum Leap, which ran from 1989 to 1993. The main character, Sam Beckett played by actor Scott Bakula, is an experimental physicist who leaps through time, temporarily taking the place of someone from that time, usually to right a wrong or ensure history remains true.
The constant in this video is a magic yellow steering wheel. “The concept is inspired by this nerdy TV show that I used to watch,” said Foust. “We dreamt up an action sequence that basically gave me the chance to drive as many fun machines as possible in one video.”
Foust can be seen stunting his 600 horsepower Rockstar Energy Drink Global Rallycross Volkswagen Beetle, his 900 horsepower Rockstar Passat drift car, a performance modified Polaris RZR UTV, a personally significant Porsche 912E… even a power boat. There is plenty of action in the video and its producer, Donut Media, has compiled footage from in-car cameras, drones, car-to-car shots, and more. Check it out.
