This video from Drift Review features some great footage of all manner of drift failing. Victims include amateurs, Formula D drivers, and pros from other series… and other continents.
The carnage goes down on the street and at venues as famous as Ebisu Circuit in Japan. The footage is shot in more than the standard bystander angle as on-car, in-car, and above-car shots are mixed in. There is plenty of wall slapping but we also see wheels and tires coming off mid drift, steering wheels coming off mid drift, as well as front AND rear bumpers coming off mid drift, so buckle up.
When we get the urge for some slideways fun on the street these videos serve as a grounding force, a way to snap back to reality. They conjure our fear of seeing our car’s crush zones in action.
Identifying people who don’t partake in these videos is easy… just surf to your local craigslist site and look for cars with crushed-in corners, usually diagonally from each other. You are probably looking at a drift gone awry; don’t be that guy.
If you need to hoon, look for a local track day and do it the right way. If that’s not in the cards we suggest a binge session of Forza Horizon on Xbox One. Any crash damage is simple to fix, there are no car insurance ramifications, and no one ends up in the hospital.
There will be more “mayhem caught on tape” to come and we may look into some “drift success” or “great save” videos to balance out our karma.
