Spotted on ” target=”_blank”>1320, we stumbled across one quick car that no one ever saw coming. Pulling up to the line fully gutted with turbo flutter and Mickey Thompson slicks, we knew this Subaru Forester wasn’t messing around. Up against the likes of GT-R’s, the “Toaster” Forester held up on its end with an epic launch off the tree.
With the battles taking place in Australia, there were vehicles we wish we could have here in the states. From the R33 and 34 GT-R’s to the Accord Euro wagon, there were a handful of cars that won’t be legal here anytime soon. As for the Forester, the owner said the EJ engine is boosted with a Garrett GT3071R turbocharger, top-mounted intercooler, and a 100-shot of nitrous tucked out back for that extra boost when needed.
No matter the car the Forester lined up against, it triumphed over each opponent with no contest. Boasting 520 horsepower with nitrous and weighing just over 3,000 pounds, this car is both light and blazing quick. To see a Forester dominate a GT-R off the line was a sight to see. The EJ engine, which is sometimes overlooked, may have convinced and inspired some new followers. Taking down “Godzilla” is no easy task as it makes plenty of power even before modifications and the performance road map is altered.
Posting an 11.36-seconds at 120 MPH quarter-mile drag time without nitrous and 10.20 at 130 with nitrous, it is clear the 100-shot on the Forester is not playing games. Asserting that it is basically a tall station wagon, it’s clear that you can’t judge a book by its cover. This Forester is quick and it’s got the time slips to back it up. Toasting at a quarter mile near you.
