In the automotive scene, the Nissan 240SX is one of many jacks of all trades. They can be built for autocross, road racing, drifting, and of course, drag racing.
This particular S14 240SX belongs to That Racing Channel, and it is powered by a Real Street-built 2JZ-GTE with a Precision 7685 turbocharger. The engine features Manley forged internals, an ATF Speed-built Toyota A340E, Porting Solutions ported head, and a modified factory 2JZ intake manifold. Pump E85 fuel makes its way to the engine via dual Walbro fuel pumps, accompanied by a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump, which increases fuel pump output anywhere from 75 to 100 percent.
One of the coolest parts about this build is the suspension setup. All four corners still have the factory suspension, and the rear factory differential was swapped out for a factory Infiniti Q45 rear diff. Watching the sleeper-looking S14 launch from the line, with the rear squatting while the tires ripple, is an amazing sight; the car looked really solid flying down the track to obtain a 7.97-second ET at an astonishing 170.51 mph. Talk about a fast street car!
Although there were no horsepower numbers given in the video, the car has to be making high triple-digit horsepower, or low four-digit horsepower to obtain that kind of ET. This car is in full street trim as well, which means it isn’t fully gutted and roll-caged. Every piece of interior was in this car at the time of the run, except the passenger seat. There’s no doubt that this is one of the cleanest drag-prepped 240SXs out there.
That Racing Channel also has a video that will be posted soon on how the car went from running 10-second quarter-miles, to running 7-second quarters. Stay tuned for that as well!
