Based out of West Chicago, AMS Performance is known for running the number. Be it on the street, down the quarter mile, ½ mile, roll-on drags, or top speed, AMS puts its products and talents to the test. They spend more time on airport runways than most pilots. AMS has shown the savvy to offer more than a flash tune or turbo kit but entire engine packages. These packages, mostly seen under the Alpha Performance or Alpha Omega banner take all the small quirks and big challenges into consideration, providing complete, balanced, turn-key convenience, and impressive levels of reliability. The company cut its teeth on high-speed Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, but more recently wrote and rewrote the record books for the Nissan R35 GT-R.
The Nissan VR38DETT is mind boggling in how it can compete and beat Lamborghini’s with twice the cylinders and twice the sticker price. Is it the car’s ability to ingest ungodly amounts of boost, its high-tech driveline, or its innovative launch control that makes for such impressive performance?
This video is flashback to 2013 and the footage shows the car progressing into the record books. The action goes down at Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, Wisconsin. It shows the car advance from the low 8s to the 7 second range… all to the tune of a snappy ‘Go Go Godzilla’ soundtrack. The current record rests with Ekanoo Racing at 7.44 at 200 mph. AMS has a top speed car in the works with 2,500 horsepower. See news on the build here. And this car may be able to convert to strip duty and give Ekanoo a run for their money.
