Video: Grab Your Grey Poupon And Let’s Drift!

Drifters area rebellious bunch for sure. They refuse to drive straight, like too much camber, hate their tires … you get the picture. Here we have rebelliousness taken to the next level, and it’s all in the build. Really, who builds a Rolls Royce for drift? Just look at them. They weigh 4,800 pounds and are so far off the ground they sway like a palm tree in a hurricane if you take a turn fast. Plus, a Rolls Royce’s biggest claim to fame, its exotically luxurious interior, is the first thing torn out and pitched into the scrap bin when you aspiring for clipping points, extreme Ackerman angle, and twitch-induced oversteer.

Leave it to the Irish. Maybe it was a long night with a never-ending glass of ale at the pub or just a zany idea that led down a rabbit hole. But Shane Lynch’s 1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow is pure Nirvana as those on hand for a recent Irish Drift Championship found out.

On paper the Silver Shadow has some promising specs, namely a 6.7-liter V8 and rear wheel drive. The car’s three-speed automatic is a strike against as Sane can’t clutch kick to initiate but there is a chunky, Boss e-brake handle to bully the Rolls sideways. We love the fender flares … wonder if something more Rocket Bunny like could have been fashion for this beast. The matte black ‘murdered out’ finish seals the deal.

But can this thing drift? Can it even light up the tires? Check out the footage and make the call. And remember the guy’s name is Shane Lynch.
