Video: What You See At The National Street Rod Association Events

Reviewing an NSRA video from September 6, 2015, we get a chance to see what the camera sees of an NSRA event. Honestly, we love the compressed view. While there is so much more to see at the actual events, this rapid-fire abbreviated look at the weekend gives the viewer a realistic view of what they can expect to see at an event.

Every type of street rod imaginable can be seen at an NSRA event.

As the crew at the NSRA is quick to point out, street rods are the stars of the show. There is no time in the Industrialized period of our country, where interest in specialty cars has been any higher than it is today. “For anyone interested in automobiles, this is the era of the unique automobile,” said Jim Rowlett of the NSRA.

Rowlett explained what we’ve been seeing for some time now. “One of the fastest growing groups of enthusiasts interested in the older cars are street rodders. The owners and builders of street rods.”

Street Rod builders from all walks of life show up.

By all rights, a street rod is the most practical vintage car because it has been updated for modern driving conditions but still has the original look and flavor of a vintage car. Many times the car has been refined to reflect the vision of the owner or the builder.

To the NSRA, a street rod is a car that has been modified for safety and the enjoyment of the owners, and is driven to events under its own power. No trailer queens here, just safe, non-racing vehicles, that are built for total family enjoyment.

A street rod is a nostalgia trip, and while it retains most of the appeal of an old car, it still permits self expression by allowing the creator to incorporate his own ideas in paint, body work and the mechanics that make it go. In this era of special interest automobiles, the street rod is one of the truest forms of personalized vehicles. This video captures that idea very well.
