Video: Mecum Mopar Madness Lot F105 – 1969 Hemi Coronet Convertible

lot105-08Everyone loves a convertible, and there’s nothing like cruising down the open road with the wind in your hair, your girl by your side, and some classic tunes on the radio. It’s even better when your musclecar is putting down some serious ponies, right?

But some of these cars don’t even seem like they’ve been driven, and that’s a bit of a shame, isn’t it? Here we have the next entry in our Mecum Mopar Madness, and it’s only showing about 18,403 miles on it. Granted, this 1969 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T Convertible (Lot F105) is said to be the only one that has been documented of the four built with the four-speed, so that likely has a bearing on the very low mileage.

There were a total of 10 1969 Hemi Coronet Convertibles, so this is a very rare beast indeed. We rarely ever get to see cars like this because they typically remain in a collection and get stored away, but if you had this kind of money, wouldn’t want to drive it? Of course, when you have this kind of money, you pretty much have a car for every day of the month – and then some.

lot105-11It seems these cars are more for collectors than for those who drive them, but wouldn’t you just love to have some Powerball winner buy up all of these cars and have their friends drive them out to a local car show so we can all get a chance to see them up close?

This Coronet does have some nice features, like the Ramcharger air induction, power windows, A33 Track Pak axle package, Tic Toc Tac, and Magnum 500 wheels, to name a few. And who remembers cars that had power steering and manual drum brakes? We saw that on quite a few cars back in the day, and this Coronet, wearing Bright Green Metallic (Code F6) is expected to pull in over $600,000 this weekend.

So what’s your take on these rare beauties? Is it a shame that we only see them when they cross the block, and not at the local burger joint on Saturday night? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
