Video: Insanity Lambo Goes For It Through Flooded San Diego Street

Up until recently it’d be a while (years, really) since drivers in Southern California had to contend with any kind of significant rainfall, but anyone who’d forgotten what rain-soaked motoring was like got a crash course in it (pun intended) at the beginning of 2016.

This doesn't bode well for the Gallardo, but turning to the right doesn't look like a better plan either.

And while we can forgive unfamiliar drivers for being overly optimistic about the fording capabilities of their Kia Sportage, it’s not every day we see six-figure supercars wading through the muck.

But that’s just what the owner of this Lamborghini Gallardo chose to do when he or she happened across this flooded intersection in San Diego. And while we certainly wouldn’t advise the owners of other Italian exotics to attempt the same feat, we can’t help but admire the amount of chutzpah required to simply drop the hammer through standing water of unknown depth in a quarter million-dollar sports car.

Against all odds, the Lamborghini makes it, due in no small part to the fact that the engine sits up relatively high behind the driver, rather than in the nose of the car.

Considering how low the Lamborghini sits, it’s not surprising that water almost immediately rushes up to the windshield upon entry, but to look at the condition of the corner question at the time of this stunt, it looks like the driver didn’t have much choice and just decided to roll the dice.

Miraculously, despite being half submerged at one point, the Lamborghini makes it across the intersection without giving up the ghost – we’ll chalk that up to the Audi engineering that underpins the Gallardo. But considering how much water must have entered the rear air intakes, as well as the electronics at the nose of the car, we probably would have parked the car at the nearest parking lot to let the internals dry off. But that’s just us – Insanity Lambo clearly doesn’t give a damn.
