Stating the obvious here, but it has to be said Aventadors aren’t slow cars since this video might give you the wrong impression. With a 6.5-liter V12, 700 horsepower and a blisteringly-fast gearbox, there aren’t many cars on the road that can hang with, let along obliterate, Lamborghini’s newest flagship. However, there always has to be a young upstart to rattle the establishment, and in this case, that young ruffian happens to be a modified Supra.
As shot from the Lambo’s cabin, the Aventador blends onto the freeway just as a tastefully-modified, Imperial Jade Supra passes. With the exception of a set of aftermarket wheels, a sportier stance and a big exhaust, the green Toyota looks comparatively understated compared to the ostentatious Lamborghini. This is all relative, considering the Supra came from the factory with a monstrous rear wing, but to the educated eye, there aren’t many indications that the Toyota is as quick as it turns out to be.

Imperial Jade, as seen here, is one of the rarer colors offered with the Supra but certainly one of the prettiest.
It seems that, among supercar owners, there is an unspoken understanding when the time to race comes. As if connected psychically, the Supra owner floors it just as the Aventador’s driver prods the throttle. Having a wailing V12 signal your approach may have something to do with that – but the Supra’s exhaust isn’t quiet by any means. The two shoot off down the highway, ultimately running into traffic and returning to a trot.
The Lamborghini owner squares up with the green Toyota and, like a friend to another friend, requests another sprint. Thankfully, there’s no brand-based animosity between these two petrolheads – just the love of speed they share. Again, the Supra shows its class and performance and doesn’t skip a beat – keeping up with the Lamborghini and showing that it is, comprehensively, the quicker car.
