For those of you keeping tabs on the latest offerings in the hypercar world, the Aston Martin Vulcan must have surely blipped your radar recently. Well, while the company is still remaining somewhat secretive about their latest and greatest sports car, they’ve released a promotional video hinting at the immense performance this chic rocket sled is capable of.
Perhaps most striking aspect of the Vulcan is the styling. Though that long hood and squashed trunk are unmistakably Aston, the Vulcan has seamlessly blended those antiquated proportions with space-age design. Mounted low and integrated into the bodywork, the minimalist headlights give it an unmistakably futuristic look. Without question, this is a sports car straight out of The Jetsons.
Powering the Vulcan is a 7.0-liter V12 that’s reported to produce upwards of 800 horsepower, giving it a similar power-to-weight ratio as a GTE car from the WEC series. Despite its generous proportions, the Vulcan utilizes plenty of carbon fiber to keep weight low and rigidity high. Speaking of, the styling exercise that is the interior is made almost exclusively from shapely carbon.
Helping this rolling piece of art come to a stop are 380mm front discs, plenty of downforce from the aero elements and 360mm discs at the rear. The brakes are kept light through the usage of carbon ceramics, and the car’s weight distribution is improved with the transmission mounted in the rear. For the lucky few owners capable of ponying up the necessary $2.3 million, they’ll have to enroll in a specialized driving school led by hotshoe Darren Turner before Aston will turn them loose in their demanding flagship. With only 24 examples made available to the public, it’s safe to say Aston doesn’t want any headstrong billionaires writing any of them off.
