Building a drift car isn’t a cheap endeavor by any means, and this Formula Drift-prepped Honda S2000 that Chris Jeanneret is selling is a great example of that.
There is a lot of money, expensive parts, and fabrication to be done in a rather short amount of time that is the off season. Jeanneret’s S2000 is Formula Drift-ready and has undergone quite the transformation to get to where it is today. It’s definitely a monster on the track, but has only seen a few Formula Drift Pro 2 events in both 2014 and 2015. The engine is a built K24A1 with parts from Skunk2, Wiseco, Golden Eagle, and attached to it is a massive Garrett GTX4088R turbocharger. The engine is good for 852 horsepower and 706 lb/ft of torque at 34 psi, which is awesome power for a K24, but not quite enough to hang with all of the 1,000+ horsepower V8s in the field.
The car rides on Bilstein PSS9 coilovers with custom spring rates, and uses a host of custom suspension parts such as toe links, control arms, tie rods, etc.; virtually everything on the car is custom-tailored to meet Formula Drift Pro and Pro 2 regulations, so if you were to purchase this car, you would have no problem passing tech if you were to compete. Just don’t expect to instantly become a pro drifter.
The reason Jeanneret is selling the car is because there is supposedly a “V2” build for the 2016 season. He claims that the build for this car took a total of 480 hours to complete, and $54,625 in parts, equaling $102,625 total. However, Jeanneret is selling the car for $75,000 due to depreciation. Would you pay $75,000 for a drift-prepped S2000, or do you think the price is completely insane? Let us know in the comments! For serious inquiries, contact chrisjeanneretracing@gmail.com.
