While the Supra hasn’t fully caught on as a drift machine here in the States, high prices keeping it from doing so, there is a huge community in the Nordic countries for Toyota’s turbocharged flagship. The MKIV Supra gets its fair share of exposure too, as we see here in this fantastic drift video shot at this year’s Gatebil event in Norway. Gatebil is the premier motorsport event in Norway and it incorporates drifting, time attack, and a music festival. It really has a bit of something for everyone, but in particular, it offers plenty of wicked JZA80 Supras.

Gatebil attracts some big names like pro drifter Frederic Aasbo, here seen in his beautfiul MKIV Supra.
The drifting format is very attractive and quite laid-back since they allow 10 to 15 cars on the circuit at once, and because most of the cars look to be expensive builds, it’s a risky proposition. However, that extravagance is all part of the Gatebil allure, and it wouldn’t be the same without 1,000-horsepower Supras drifting in tandem. What’s most interesting is how the platform really is available enough to allow for some interesting tweakery.
The standout cars flash by so quickly that it’s hard to appreciate some of the details which go into them. One Supra sports a black-and-white paint scheme and a functioning lightbar as well as a Ridox front bumper which gives it an incredibly unique look. Its single-turbo soundtrack adds to the appeal, but unfortunately it isn’t the show-stealer. That award goes to an unconventional builder who, among a crowd of 2JZ-powered cars, decided to put a blown Chevy LS in his Supra, and it manages to hang with the rest of ’em.
