Dynatrac had plenty of new products at the 2015 SEMA Show, and is stepping out of the usual bolt-in style applications with an emphasis more towards custom applications with its new XD60-IFS.
We had the chance to speak with Cole Quinnell about the XD60-IFS, and other new products Dynatrac brought to the show. “The XD60-IFS real market is for people who are building King of the Hammers competitors, and buggies. We have two advantages with this setup. The strength we are known for, and we make our own housings. This housing uses the 10.1-inch ring gear, and has a completely redesigned case so it holds the carrier and pinion better for less deflection under high loads. Flange-to-flange we are the industry’s narrowest at 13.5 inches, and with the narrow body it allows for more travel,” Quinnell said.
“Our new XD60 front axle with all new housing and center section still maintains the ProRock best-in-class ground clearance, more than a stock Dana 44. For the rear, it is available in 35 and 40 spline. The differential cover has also been redesigned to be thicker, and now is a structural part of the strength of the axle. The bottom of the differential cover is thicker so we recessed the bolts even deeper in, meaning you will not damage them when dragging it on rocks,” Quinnell explained.
“We now offer front and rear axles shaft kits for the JK designed to be used in our ProRock44 axles. These kits are for people who want to replace their stock axles because they have bent them, or want to avoid damaging. They are made in the USA and can be used with the Rubicon locker. The rear is made from chromoly, and the front is high tinsel carbon with a proprietary heat treat,” Quinnell continued.
“We teamed up with ARB to create an air locker specifically for us,” Quinnell said. “Current ARB 40 spline lockers have a real thin area where the carrier bearing mounts, and with a heavier vehicle, the mount tends to cone out with extreme use. Working with ARB, we created a new housing that is much thicker, as well as has upgrade gears on the inside. It also allows us to run our XD60 bearing which is much larger than the standard bering.”
