Video: The Old Zigged When I Should Have Zagged AMG Style

Mercedes Benz is all about luxury, performance, and precision. The latter took a hit at a recent Mercedes-AMG presentation event in South Africa. The synchronized driving stunt took an ugly turn, a wildly expensive ugly turn, when the drivers of a GT-S Coupe and a C63 S sedan pulled a smash and spin.

The staff at Zero2Turbo had their cameras zoomed in and running as two pairs of AMG-spec Benzes turned onto the same straightaway at different ends of the track. The event was a demo show for clients held at Zwartkops Racetack in the capital city of Johannesburg. The intention was for the four cars to perform a weave maneuver but, as the video vividly illustrates, the weave unraveled in short order.

As the cars started their dance it seemed confusion reigned. It looks like the yellow GT-S driver was confused but some have said the red and blue cars were in the wrong position. The driver of the red car aborted early. Having never pulled off a multi-car weave maneuver we can’t really speculate fault… but we can surely suggest more practice next time. Needless to say there are two less AMG sports cars for the ‘clients’ to choose from after this fracas.

While this is an entertaining video all on its own, we recommend doing a little scratching or sampling. A lady yells in surprise as the cars collide. Move the cursor to about 11 seconds, click away, and enjoy the rapid playback… it’s great audible fun!
