When Lotus pulled the wraps off of their new 3-Eleven track day monster that also happens to be street-legal, the automotive world finally got a glimpse of the fastest Lotus ever made.
Lotus has always prided themselves on raising the bar, and that’s exactly what they did with the new 3-Eleven. This car is powered by Lotus’ revised 3.5-liter V6 engine that gets its oomph from a supercharger that is air-to-water intercooled. Power output is good for a stout 450 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, while a beefed-up 6-speed transmission sends it to the rear wheels. Lotus also has a new traction control system that this car is equipped with. From the video above, it look like it works really well.
The road-going 3-Eleven will employ a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, Torsen-type limited-slip differential, and a performance oil cooler. The track-only model will come with a paddle-shifted 6-speed sequential transmission, a semi-dry sump oiling system, and a limited-slip differential. Lightweight forged wheels come on the race model and the road-going model, but customers will have their choice of Michelin Pilot Super Sports, or Pilot Cup 2s depending on their preference.
Judging by how fast the car shifted in the video, we’re guessing this is the race model. It sure kept its composure around the carousel, though! Another view of the car before it went onto the Nordschleife shows us the color LCD dash that shows a variety of parameters next to speed, rpm, fuel, coolant temp, and oil temp. We’re really excited to see this thing in person, but seeing more videos of it tearing up some different tracks would hold us over for now.
