Last month, we gave you all of the details of Shelby’s 2015 Super Snake. Let that sink in for a moment, because you’re about to see that 750 horsepower beast in action.

In this video, lead developer and factory driver Vince LaViolette spends the afternoon drifting, testing, and performing burn-outs in this all new Super Snake package equipped Shelby Mustang.

You might also remember Vince from our article on the Shelby 1,000 – he was also Shelby’s test driver back then, too.

We’re big fans of Shelby’s collaboration with Weld Racing for the Super Snake’s wheel choice.

While some Mustang enthusiasts were disappointed that the new Super Snake does not utilize the previous generation GT500’s 5.8 liter Trinity V8, we for one think that’s a good thing.  To put it short and simple, it’s just not cost effective to do. It’s not just about swapping an engine into a chassis: there’s about another hundred other variables to consider, like motor mounts, ECU calibration, exhaust routing, and that’s just to name a few.

In retrospect, it’s a lot easier to slap on a supercharger to the existing 5.0 liter, than it is to spend millions of dollars on research and development to package an engine that is now out of production into a new car. There are also EPA laws to consider, although Shelby offers this package post-title, putting an older model engine in a newer car (since there is no 5.8 liter 2015 Mustang) is a violation of EPA laws for an auto company.
