We simply can’t get enough of this beast. The Beast of Turin Fiat S.76 land-speed-record machine has been seen here on EngineLabs twice previously (here and here), and owner Duncan Pittaway finally achieved one of his stated goals of getting the car to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and wowing the crowd.

The Fiat S.76 is legendary in land-speed-record circles for its monstrous engine that displaces 28.5-liters from only four cylinders of Fiat. Since its restoration, it’s reported that the engine produces 300 horsepower at only 1,000 rpm, which is no small feat for an engine that was designed over 100 years ago.

More importantly–and perhaps of most interest to our EngineLabs readers–it belches flames from the straight-pipe exhaust with seemingly every fire of the plug and makes magical noises under power.

The Goodwood Festival is a gathering of some of the world’s finest and most sought-after vehicles, of which the S.76 certainly qualifies as it is a one-of-one machine that Pittaway painstakingly restored over several years, using original parts wherever possible and recreating others from the original Fiat blueprints when suitable replacements could not be procured.

This amazing piece of automotive history and onetime World’s Fastest Car wasn’t set up to excel at Goodwood, as the gearset is designed for top speed action, but the mere chance to see it in operation and rolling up The Hill under power is simply awesome.
