The sports sedan segment in America is about to get a lot more interesting. Italian automaker Afla Romeo has taken the wraps off the rumored Giulia four door, and it looks like it’s going to be a serious contender for the hearts and minds of potential Mercedes-AMG C63, Cadillac ATS-V and BMW M3 buyers.
So what does the Giulia bring to the table? Well first impressions go a long way, and the Alfa’s Italian design certainly doesn’t hurt in the aesthetics department. Underneath the sleek bodywork there’s also some sophisticated hardware at work as well.
Alfa says the new Giulia will sport best-in-class structural rigidity and a perfect 50-50 weight distribution. It’s reported that the Giulia will give its competitive set something to worry about in terms of curb weight as well, clocking in at about 3300 pounds or so.
Motivation in the top spec model (called the Quadrifoglio) will be handled by a “Ferrari inspired” all-aluminum six cylinder mill delivering 510 horsepower, which Alfa says will get the car from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds. And judging from the clip above, it’s also going to sound the business too.
Carbon ceramic brakes, active aerodynamics and torque vectoring are all in the cards as well, as is both an optional manual transmission and a choice of either all-wheel or rear-wheel drive configurations.
Check out the press release for more details on the upcoming sports sedan, and expect to see this latest addition to the Alfa Romeo lineup on US shores sometime in the not-so-distant future.
