There may some new contenders in the mix, but as it currently stands, the Forza franchise still reigns supreme when it comes to console racing simulators. With that, we anxiously anticipate the release of the sixth installment of the series for Xbox One, due out September 15th, 2015. So what’s new this time around?
To start, the star car this time around will be Ford’s new Ecoboost-powered GT supercar – it will grace the cover and will get the full Forzavista treatment along with more than 450 other vehicles. For those who’ve played Forza Horizon 2, some of the other major changes will already feel familiar, including new dynamic weather, which will affect both grip and visibility, as well as new night races which also ramp up the challenge and realism.
The studio also alludes to enhancements of road surface physics as well, saying that changes in terms of grooves, cracks, surface material and so on will have an even more pronounced effect on handling this time around, and that the more than 100 different types of road surfaces in the new game will each have their own unique impact on grip.
On the competition front, we’re also now getting the ability to toggle between community-sourced Drivatar competitors or ones that are of the more predictable AI-based flavor.
Turn 10 also says Forza Motorsport 6 will feature no less than 26 real-world locations to race at, 24 player online racing, and all of rendered in 1080p running at 60 frames per second for buttery-smooth visual fidelity. Click here for a full list of cars and tracks available at launch.
