If you’re a fan of both the Forza series of Xbox racing games as well as the high performance offerings from Stuttgart, you’ve probably noticed that your options have traditionally been limited to Porsche tuner RUF’s models, as a licensing agreement with Electronic Arts (publishers of the Need for Speed series) have left Porsche factory cars off the roster of other racing titles for years.
Fortunately that intellectual property embargo appears to have been lifted, as an incoming piece of downloadable content for Forza Horizon 2 adds no less than ten Porsche models of various sizes, shapes and vintages to the game’s lineup of available cars.
Released on the Xbox Live Marketplace this week for $9.99, the DLC includes cars like the 1970 Porsche 914/6, the 1987 Porsche 959, the 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder, and even 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo.
There’s probably a dozen more models we’d like to see on the list (Cayman GT4, anyone?), but this is certainly a good start, and we’re hoping it’s a harbinger of Porsche’s inclusion in future Forza titles, like the inevitable Forza Motorsport 6, which we strongly suspect will be officially announced later this month at the E3 Expo.
Along with the new cars, the DLC also includes 10 new Bucket List challenges, 10 Rivals events and 15 new achievements – all of which enhance the DLC package substantially, since it’s safe to assume that most Forza Horizon 2 players have probably unlocked just about everything possible in the standard game by now, which was released in late September of last year for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
