Video: A Fresh, First-Class 1950 Mercury Sedan Up For Sale

The era of big body coupes may be long and gone but our friends over at RK Motors have managed to build a nice hot rod. With only 467 miles on the odometer, a 1950 Mercury Sedan is currently being auctioned for one lucky owner.

Blacked out with a touch of chrome, this Mercury Sedan is a frame off build that is fully loaded inside and out. A hefty 454 cubic-inch Chevy V8 motor sits beneath the hood with stock heads and a 750cfm Edelbrock single four-barrel carburetor.

A TurboHydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission, a 2,500 RPM stall converter, and a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.55 gears let the 454’s power hit the pavement. Rebuilt with a custom fiberglass body, an Art Morrison chassis and painted in Porsche Basalt Metallic paint, this Mercury Sedan has kustom written all over it.

The 20-inch chrome DUB wheels are tucked with ease under the burly Mercury Sedan’s fenders. The suspension duties are handled by a RideTech Shockwave suspension, which also utilizes a modern rack-and-pinion steering system to create a nice stance coupled with drivability.

A four-wheel disc brake system provides plenty of stopping power for this V8 monstrosity. Moving inside, the Mercury Sedan has a custom two-tone ultraleather gray interior with bucket seats and a Lokar floor shifter.

Utilizing a ’49 Mercury dashboard, Classic Instruments All American telemetry is tastefully placed beside custom lettering, a Pioneer audio receiver, and lighted Vintage Air twist knobs. With so much to offer and so little not to be upset about, would you take the plunge for $105,000?

What would be your first order of business with this Mercury Sedan? Swap the wheels? Let us know in the comments below.
