The McLaren P1 GTR might be the track toy to have amongst the upper echelon, but the Ferrari FXX K looks equally as mean out on their Fiorano Circuit test track.
The FXX K is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 that the engineers managed to squeeze out nearly another hundred horsepower with, bumping the output to 848 hp at 9,200 RPM. That’s not all, though, as the FXX K’s electric motor from the HY-KERS system bumps power output to a responsive 1,036 hp when activated, channeling all of the screaming horses to the 345-width Pirelli slicks in the rear. Being that the FXX K is a track-only model, Ferrari also made some extensive aerodynamic changes to the car as well such as a big rear wing that produces a staggering 1,200 lbs of downforce at 124 mph – a 50-percent increase over the standard LaFerrari.
In the video, we’re able to see and hear the FXX K rip around the Fiorano Circuit, and damn does it sound beautiful under wide-open-throttle! With a newly-calibrated version of Ferrari’s Slide Slip Angle Control traction technology, the FXX K manages to tear around the circuit more precisely, resulting in significantly quicker lap times. There are even sensors in the tires that relay information back to the car’s computer.
We know for a fact that we won’t ever be able to get our hands on an FXX K, but we can always enjoy watching it carve corners and heat up its oversized carbon brakes, as well as listen to its overzealous V12 engine scream and its gunshot-like backfires. Ferrari sure hasn’t forgot how to racecar.
