Racing simulator fans who’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Project CARS are going to have to sit tight for a few more weeks, as the game has been pushed back from its previous launch date of early April. The latest delay follows a string of extensions – the April date was a delay from a February launch window, which was a delay from the game’s initially projected release date in November of last year. The game is now slated to launch on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the middle of May – an exact date has not been announced yet – and Slightly Mad Studios promises they’ll make the date this time around.
As a consolation prize we’re offered this location trailer, which details some of the 30 different tracks which will be available in the game at launch, and the studio also says it will give Project Cars players some free content, the details of which will be announced later.
“Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making critically-acclaimed racing games, Project Cars is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all,” said Ian Bell, head of Slightly Mad Studios, in a release. “Despite therefore the game being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We’re absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that’s what they’ll receive.”
Notable road courses include Monza, Watkins Glen, Mount Panorama, Circuit de la Sarthe, Laguna Seca, Spa-Francorchamps and a stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway. Stay tuned for a full review of the title as the release date nears.
