Video: RC Cars in Japan Look And Drift Like The Real Thing

The Japanese are known for their uniqueness and creativity, not to mention their attention to detail. They have always been meticulous with everything that they do, especially when it comes to the automobile. The building and tuning of cars is almost an artform to them. Drifting is also considered an art form to the Japanese and since they invented it it’s no wonder that the sport has grown to be a part of their culture.

It takes special skills, which take years of practicing to master, to drive with the precision of the sport’s best. For those of us with the dream and passion for drifting, there is another way to practice this artform without damaging ourselves or our wallets. The world of RC, radio controlled cars, like all other aspects of motor is another arena that the Japanese’s attention to detail comes to the forefront.

The Japanese take their scale models very seriously as seen in the video. These RC drift cars definitely look the part. You will notice that they take form after some of the most popular chassis such as the 240sx, Chaser, Soarer, AE86 Corolla, and even some unconventional chassis such as the Evolution X. The attention to detail with these model cars are astounding featuring actual headlights and taillights, a wing in the back, and even an exhaust system.

When we say these cars do play the part well, they really do. The alignment specs really do have to be set up like a real car, from camber to toe and even ackerman angles can all be adjusted. The drivers featured in the video have some amazing talent. We’re pretty sure this is seriously challenging and it definitely takes a bit of practice to not spin out. But we have a new theme for casual Friday’s.

The track that Kuma Kuma Films visited is actually located in a tuning shop called Works in Yokohama, Japan. The track seems to also be highly detailed with curbs, trees, and even barricades and street lights. It’s simply amazing how the movement of the cars exactly mimic the real thing. This is a must see video for those who appreciate scale model hobbies and love drifting.
