All sports have an off season where professionals get to relax, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy their favorite activities. The same goes for the motorsports world. For example, Ryan Tuerck, a professional Formula Drift driver.
He is well known for piloting a 2JZ-GTE-powered Scion FR-S with a Rocket Bunny widebody at drift events around the Continental United States. However, if you haven’t heard of him, you have probably stumbled upon a couple of his videos on YouTube. He seems to have a blast with any challenge that comes his way. Whether he is tearing up his own driveway in his 1JZ-swapped Nissan 240SX or traveling around the world to check out the drift scene, he is always in the driver’s seat.
On this episode of Tuerck’d, he travels to Australia for the Drift Matsuri to do what he does best; Tuercking. The first stop on his trip is Molendinar, Australia, where he picks up his ride for the trip. A Nissan R31 Skyline, which features a naturally aspirated inline-6 was his for the time being to drift in. Before the drifting started he did some sightseeing with his Aussie friends as they set out to find cascades and waterfalls to slide down and jump off of. After all of the non-car-related fun, it was time for a road trip down to Raleigh Raceway where the smashing, bashing, and games began. One of the events just so happened to be the Table Game, and Tuerck got to judge it.
The Table Game is a drifting competition in which drivers slide their cars towards a stack of tires. Whoever stops the closest to the stack of tires is crowned the winner. He also got to test drive a couple of the locals’ cars like a turbocharged Toyota Corolla AE86, featuring a Beams engine that has been turbocharged and tuned to produce 300 horsepower at the wheels.
The other car that Tuerck got to hoon was a 600-horsepower 2010 Holden UTE, which looked to be a blast to drive,
Everywhere Tuerck goes, he is handed keys to some of the baddest rides at the local drift tracks. He also gets to participate in a slew of cool events. Where will he go next? What car is he going to drive? I guess we will have to wait for the next episode to see.
