For children, young-at-heart adults, and everyone in between, there is something special about monster trucks. Whether it is the huge tires, loud V8 engines, or just the overall presence that monster trucks carry, they have been entertaining hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide for decades – and they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, literally.
Known as the flagship truck for the Ram Truck brand, the Raminator, which features 66-inch tires, a 565 ci supercharged Hemi capable of 2,000 hp, and a 10-foot tall demeanor, has been wowing fans and making a name for itself over the past few years. Today, December 15th, 2014, the Raminator driven by Mark Hall made an attempt at the Guiness Book of World Records for the fastest speed for a monster truck. Hosted at the Circuit of The Americas, Hall and company made three passes to successfully reach a top recorded speed of 99.10 mph – a new world record.
The record was previously held by Randy Moore in the Aaron’s Outdoors monster truck at 96.8 mph, a record he set back in 2012. While Moore’s record was impressive enough, it was only a matter of time until someone tried to challenge and surpass it. With the new record comes new responsibility, and as Hall eluded to, he and the team learned a lot from the runs today and are dedicated to shoot for the 100 mph mark in the near future.
Take a look at the video and listen to all 2,000 hp scream as the Raminator goes scary-fast for a monster truck right by the camera! Congrats to Hall and the entire Raminator crew on your accomplishment!
