Video: 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Vs. 2012 Ferrari FF?

Over here at LSXMag, we love wagons. We especially love Lingenfelter‘s Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser wagon that has been seen on the last two Power Tours, as well as in Optima’s Ultimate Street Car Challenge.

In Motor Trend’s web series, Generation Gap, Davin and Matt are given a category in which they have to compare two completely different cars from two generations. This episode is about family cruisers. Davin chose Lingenfelter’s Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon, equipped with an Edelbrock/Lingenfelter edition E-Force-supercharged LS3 engine that puts out a stout 650 horsepower. The Vista Cruiser is also equipped with Ride Tech air suspension, lightweight Weld Racing wheels, and some big Baer disc brakes.

Matt, on the other hand, chose a 2012 Ferrari FF to compare to the Vista Cruiser. The Ferrari FF has a part-time all-wheel drive system that’s powered by a 6.3-liter V12 that produces a stout 651 horses and 504 pound-feet of torque. Well into the six-figure price range, the Ferrari FF is also missing two doors compared to the Vista Cruiser. It also has a “flappy paddle” gearbox that shifts lightning-fast.

We love both of their choices, but each one definitely has its pros and cons. In general, the Ferrari is going to cost a lot more to maintain and it’s not really something you’d see out front of your local elementary or middle school picking up the kids, where the Vista Cruiser is versatile and can be used on a day-to-day basis, while being able to haul around a boot full of cargo.

Check out the video and see which family cruiser wins the tally!
