One of the leaders in off-road axle manufacturing and supply, Dynatrac, has made another giant step forward for the four-wheeling community. Debuted at the SEMA Show, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 4 to 7, 2014, the all-new, all-aluminum axle for the Jeep Wrangler from Dynatrac offers more than one unique and advantageous feature.
We talked to Jim McGean, president of Dynatrac to get the whole story. “We have been working with American Axle, a Tier 1 automotive parts manufacturer on the research and development process of this new all-aluminum axle for about a year, and are proud to be able to show it off here at the largest automotive aftermarket event in the world.”
“Aluminum is a great material and it has some challenges that we have been working on in conjunction with American Axle, but by 2015 we should have this product ready to present to the off-road community. It will combine all of the advantages of aluminum, such as light weight, with the sturdiness that off-roaders are looking for.”
“There are a lot of people that drive their off-road vehicles on mild dirt roads, but this new axle is targeted at the hardcore four-wheeler that goes rock-crawling or rock-racing. It will provide that enthusiast with the weight savings and durability the serious off-roader is looking for.”
“In addition, we are also offering a smart phone app for Apple and Android that will allow you to control the new Tracrite GTL helical-gear limited-slip/electric locker differential in the axle, as well as the winch, lights, and other functions on the vehicle from a position outside of the vehicle.”
“A co-driver could, in effect, act as a spotter on extremely challenging sections of a 4×4 trail and control everything while the driver remains in his seat to control the throttle and steering. This could eliminate the need to shout directions back and forth, so the co-driver can operate lockers at key moments without the driver having to tell him what to do.”
We here at OffRoadXtreme are very exciting about this new development between Dynatrac and American Axle and can’t wait to get our hands on one and try it out. For more information about any of the axle or brake products from Dynatrac, check out the company’s website or call (714) 596-4461.
