The final event of the 2014 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) held at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park was very good for Brian Deegan and his line of #38 Ford trucks. Deegan debuted in Pro 4, and as usual was a hot contender in the ProLite and Pro 2 classes.

In his first race in Pro 4, Deegan had to start last (having never raced in the class this year), but by the end of lap one he was already running in fifth. After working his way past two more competitors, he was running on the rear bumper of the second-position Johnny Greaves, who eventually spun out. Deegan took advantage of the opportunity and went on to a second place finish in his first Pro 4 event for yet another career podium spot.

Deegan was looking to make up ground on class points leader Sheldon Creed in the ProLite race, and charged straight to the lead. After a full-course caution, Jerrett Brooks was able to squeeze by Deegan on the restart. Although Deegan and Brooks continued to run similar lap times, Deegan didn’t have the opportunity to take over the lead again and would finish second in ProLite.

Deegan’s busy weekend Continued with Pro 2. As the Pro 2 points leader, Deegan was in a position to clinch his title at Elsinore. Pro 2 was the final event of the evening and Deegan was running third on lap one. A few incidents and cautions caused the field to stack up early in the race and by the time racing resumed on lap nine, Deegan sat fourth.

After another caution and some gutsy moves he was door-to-door with Carl Renezeder, but while trying to make a pass, Deegan got bumped, causing him drive the inside rail, which allowed Rob MacCachren to pass him. Deegan finished third, and continued his perfect record of podium finishes in Pro 2 for the 2014 season.

That spot on the podium clinched the LOORRS Pro 2 Class Championship for Deegan, his third in four years, and sixth championship in his six years competing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. For an inside look at Brian Deegan’s assault on the 2014 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series championship, check out the “>video above.
