This past weekend was round 4 for the Southern Rock Racing Series at the 72,000 acre facility of WindRock Park in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Thirty-one of the Southeastern’s best climbing machines arrived on Saturday to do battle with the tough terrain.
One of the more spectacular highlights from the event was Dale Larsen’s incredible crash during which his buggy flipped violently down the hill. As you can tell from the video above, Larsen had a fantastic launch, but about three-quarters of the way up the massive hill it appears that the left front tire caught a rock and sent the nose of the buggy straight up into the air. It also pushed him off his line a bit and sent him tumbling upside down to the right.
Like most hill-climbing crashes, just when the crash seems to be over is usually when things go from bad to worse. As onlookers and safety crews start rushing toward the buggy, the vehicle then starts to come back down the hill, flipping end over end until coming to a hard rest against a tree. Thanks to the safety equipment and the quick work from the safety crew, Larsen was able to walk away from the scary crash without injury. Lucky for us, our friends from BustedKnuckleVideo had their cameras rolling and were able to capture the incredible crash.
Ultimately Tim Cameron and his ride “UnderRated” would win event #4 of SRRS with a total score of 96.
