Forza Motorsport 5, is a video game that was released in 2013 for the Xbox One video gaming system. This video is showing off a 1967 Chevelle SS 396 that’s available to drive during the game.
In the past there have been lots of racing video games, but they primarily focused on new and usually exotic race cars. The old school muscle cars of yesterdays past were usually forgotten, or extremely underperforming cars. The 1967 Chevelle shown here seems to be a fairly accurate representation of the car.
First off, the graphics are really impressive in this game. The car has smooth lines and plenty of detail throughout. Even the dash is correct in its shape, right down to the factory needle gauges instead of warning lights. The motor sounds like a hearty big block too, one of the most important features on a Chevelle, especially in a video game.
The handling of the car doesn’t appear to be the best, but a Chevelle was never meant to handle; it was meant to go fast in a straight line. That’s one aspect this game is spot on, this Chevelle is flat out flying. On the backstretch the car finally touches fourth gear and hits 206 km/h, roughly 128 mph.
We are really impressed with the level of detail and accuracy the video game portrays the Chevelle with. This would be the perfect way to get our driving fix during the winter months or while taking a break when wrenching!
