Video: $400 Plymouth Valiant Turned Big Muscle Feature MOPAR

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. In this case, however, it was someone’s recyclables that turned into one hell of a build.

We’re talking about the latest episode of Muscle; one that features a 1969 Plymouth Valiant that was picked up some 20 years ago by its owner thanks to the local recycler classifieds. And because it was listed in such a publication, it was bought for just $400. Check out how it turned out in the video above!

Originally built as a straight-line pro-street car with a fuel-injected 360ci engine, this Plymouth Valiant has gone through a couple of phases in its life. But it wasn’t until after its owner, Shannon Hudson, owner of Redline Gauge Works, got hooked up with Hotchkis that the car took on its current personality.

In talking with Hotchkis, Hudson got his car accepted as a test car for Hotchkis’ new (at the time) A-body TVS suspension system. Still to this day, the Valiant runs the Hotchkiss system, as well as a Borgeson steering box, which takes all the play out of traditional Mopar steering.

Other unique features on the Valiant include one-off Curtis Speed wheels, traditional Lime Green paint and mechanical brakes.

Certainly not built to be the fastest Mopar on the planet, Hudson’s Valiant is quite the driver with just enough power (about 400hp to the wheels) to get you places in a hurry without getting you in too much trouble. Why would one build an old-school grocery getter like this? Well, why not? It’s actually pretty cool.

Different from many of the other Mopars you see running around out there at shows and events, this Valiant is sure to strike curiosity in anyone it comes across. After all, you can’t take a car known as an average person’s commuter back in the day and beef it up without turning a few heads.
