Video: Proof The Latest Jeff Gordon Prank With Pepsi MAX Was Legit

About a week ago, NASCAR funny-man Jeff Gordon was at it again, this time taking an unsuspecting automotive journalist for the ride of his life. The point? To prove that his previous stunt involving a car salesman and a fifth-generation Camaro was, in fact, legit- or at least could have been. But who says the latest stunt wasn’t just another “scripted” commercial effort? Well, actually the man that Gordon was able to fool! Check out his reaction to the stunt in this week’s DRIVE video above.

When Gordon pulled his original stunt early last year, there was instantly talk of how scripted it was and how the car salesman that was “punked” was actually in on the whole thing. One of the sources of skepticism was Travis Okulski, an editor for the online automotive publication Jalopnik.

So what was Gordon’s reaction to being called out? Well, he decided to prank the guy who called his bluff in his latest video Pepsi MAX titled “Test Drive 2.” A week ago, this video went live, catching the attention of the automotive world right away- not because of Gordon’s stellar driving (which is still very obvious), but because of the humor behind the whole setup. Okulski, understandably, didn’t see the humor until after it was revealed that he had been set up.

This week on After DRIVE, host Mike Spinelli talks to Okulski about his terrifying-turned-hilarious encounter with a disguised Jeff Gordon and a Chevy Caprice taxi cab. And if Okulski was convinced the stunt was real at first, you know it wasn’t scripted.

But we’ll tell you what- go ahead and try calling his bluff again and see what Gordon cooks up for the next round, possibly with you in the passenger seat!
